IJS GLOBAL OPENS HOUSTON OFFICE TO SERVE GULF COAST REGION

Strengthens Staff With Two New Hires

STAMFORD, CT (May 1, 2006)--IJS Global, Inc., the fast growing air and ocean freight forwarder, customs broker and non-vessel operating common carrier, has opened a full-service office in Houston to serve the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Houston becomes IJS Global’s seventh U.S. location.

IJS Global Houston will provide international shippers and consignees with a total range of logistics services, including air and vessel charters and project cargo operations. The office, part of IJS Global’s Western Region, is overseen by Lars Buchwardt, Director, Western Region. A seasoned four-person team headed by Terry K. Derr, Director of Projects, manages day-to-day operations. All four professionals have many years of experience serving the Houston-area logistics market, and they are well versed in executing logistic solutions unique to companies serving the Gulf Coast region.

“Our Houston operation will solidify our global and national coverage, and, in particular, our coverage in the Gulf Coast,” said Buchwardt. “Houston fills an important gap in our network and, with the caliber of professionals managing our operations, we expect Houston to become a strong performer across the IJS Global system.”

Separately, IJS Global has strengthened its staff with the following hires:

  • Ambiga Todaro has been appointed Director - Transpacific. Ambiga will develop transpacific business on eastbound and westbound trade lanes. Her responsibilities also include carrier negotiations for transpacific activity. Ambiga has 20 years of Asian industry experience, including high-level stints at Schenker and ABX Logistics. She is based at IJS Global’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, CT.
  • Steve Blane has been appointed Regional Director – Southeast Region, which includes Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. Steve joins IJS Global after 18 years with Delta Airlines Cargo. He was the General Manager – Alliances and International, and former General Manager of Pricing and Sales Development. He also served as the Chairman of Sky Team Cargo Network Planning Group. Steve is based in the Atlanta office.

“We are fortunate to have such strong and experienced talent like Ambiga Todaro and Steve Blaine join our team,” said John Gallahan, President and CEO, IJS Global. Ambiga has extensive expertise in Asian inbound transportation, which will serve us well as we capitalize on the continued growth of eastbound trade from Asia. And Steve’s long experience on the carrier side will strengthen our relations with our airline partners, a critical component to our success.”
