Move Continues IJS’ Growth in Trans-Pacific, Intra-Asian Markets
QUEENS, NY (February 13, 2006)—IJS Global Inc.®, a fast-growing international air and ocean freight forwarder, customs broker and non-vessel operating common carrier, said today it has signed a joint venture agreement with Trans Air Cargo, one of Thailand’s leading air cargo agents, as part of IJS Global’s plan to offer full-service logistics solutions to Thai importers and exporters.
The transaction continues IJS Global’s expansion across Asia and, by extension, intercontinental markets. Recently, IJS Global announced acquisitions in China, Hong Kong and the Philippines. The Thai joint venture has been named IJS Global (Thailand) Company, Ltd.
Leveraging TAC’s expertise and strong market position, IJS Global through the joint venture will offer businesses serving Thailand a complete suite of transportation, warehousing and distribution, and brokerage services. TAC currently employs 320 people at four locations in Thailand. All employees and offices will be retained under the joint venture.
TAC was founded in 1979 as an air cargo agent. In 1981, it received certified-agent approval from the International Air Transport Association. In 2000, TAC was awarded a customs broker’s license by the Thai government. In 2003, TAC was voted Thailand’s top freight forwarder by the Thai Airfreight Forwarders Association.
